Jackson Mthembu: SABC board running public broadcaster down

African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu has criticised the SABC board for acting irrationally by giving Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng another senior position.

Mthembu says the appointment of former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng is unlawful because the board did not follow procedures.

He calls the board's decision an "embarrassment to the country".

No due process was followed. A person just rocked in and became the general executive of corporate affairs.

Jackson Mthembu, ANC Chief Whip

Parliament has a duty to call for that board's resolution through an inquiry that is a due process under such governances. Now that's where we are.

Jackson Mthembu, ANC Chief Whip

It is quite clear that the SABC board is continuing to be wrong and showing a middle finger to our court and to the people of South Africa.
