Waste continues to pile up in Joburg as Pikitup and the SA Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) struggle to reach an agreement.
Both parties have taken a break in their deliberations after failing to agree on a course of action on Monday after the waste management company demanded that all workers return to their posts.
Meanwhile, Samwu vows to intensify the strike. Workers are protesting for salary increases and the resignation of Pikitup MD, Amanda Nair.
John Robbie on Wednesday spoke to Pikitup's spokesperspon, Jacky Mashapu, and a Samwu representative, Papikie Mohale, about the breakdown in talks.
