2 Wits PhD students breaking new ground in HIV/Aids research

Wits university PhD students, Shobna Sawry and Jinal Bhiman, have received funding from global cosmetics giant L'Oreal for their HIV/Aids-related research.

702's Azania Mosaka spoke to them about their respective research subjects and their vision for the role of science in eradicating the spread of HIV.

...Conducting clinical trials on children is difficult, but it is good news that we've got more drugs for children in the pipeline.

...At this stage it is still very basic research but it's changing paradigms. The next step is to take this basic research and test it.
