Did the ad war between Hennessy and Jameson put cognac back on the map?

The adverting dispute between alcoholic spirits brands Hennessy and Jameson has put the spotlight back on the preferential divide among popular distilled beverages.

Hennessy cognac lodged a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) accusing the marketers of Irish whiskey Jameson of stealing its advertising concept and mocking its brand.

Owner of Norman Goodfellows, Carrie Adams said cognac, a variety of brandy, has always been a major competitor to whiskey and big contender in the spirits marketplace.
