Tito Mboweni on if Govt will safeguard Public Protector, Auditor-General, IEC...

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield played a clip from Stephen Grootes' The Midday Report.

Grootes asked former Reserve Bank Governor Prof. Tito Mboweni if Government will protect the Chapter Nine institutions.

Mboweni warned on Wednesday that Government must show respect to regulators if these Chapter Nine institutions are to fulfil their mandates.

Chapter Nine institutions refer to a group of organisations established to guard democracy in terms of Chapter Nine of the South African Constitution.

Examples of Chapter Nine institutions include the Public Protector, the Auditor-General, the Independent Electoral Commission and others.
