'Add expertise and subtract political favours for winning SAA formula'

Pilots at the South African Airways (SAA) are appealing to the newly appointed Finance Minister David van Rooyen to ensure a competent board is appointed to oversee the financially troubled national carrier.

This comes after the SAA pilots association passed a vote of no confidence in SAA chairperson Dudu Myeni and her non-executive directors.

Editor of African Pilot Magazine, Athol France on Friday said that the successful operation of SAA hinges on the permanent appointment of competent staff.
