10-year TB research yields positive results

In a recent breakthrough in medicine, new research has found a way of predicting whether a person is at risk of developing full-blown TB.

702's Azania Mosaka spoke to Associate Professor at UCT, Mark Hatherill, about the clinical trials and what the news means for the medical industry.

People that have additional risk factors are people who are diabetic or HIV-infected. You're not able to contain the tuberculosis infection to a great extent.

TB is a chronic illness. You can be exposed or infected with TB and have months and years go by before getting diseased.
