4. Salt of the Earth (directed by Juliano Ribeiro Salgado and Wim Wenders, 2014).

This breath-taking and thought provoking documentary follows the 40 year career of Sebastião Salgado as he witnesses the ever changing world. From famine stricken Ethiopia to the burning oil fields of the Middle East, he has captured the vast landscapes and intimate moments of so much of our recent history.

3. Whiplash (directed by Damien Chazelle, 2014)

A talented young drummer enrolls at a prestigious jazz school where he is taken under the wing by a mentor who will not stop at anything to let this student reach his full potential and dreams.

2. Mad Max: Fury Road (directed by George Miller, 2015)

This is an action-filled tale about a powerful female protagonist standing up against an oppressive ruler in a post-apocalyptic Australia. She, along with her band of prisoners, a psychotic worshiper, and a drifter named Max, are in search for their homeland.

1.The Theory of Everything (directed by James Marsh, 2014)

This exquisite film explores the unknown relationship between arguably the most famous disabled super-genius, Stephen Hawking, and his wife.
