Lance Brown: Creating opportunities and embracing challenges

Growing up in Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats, Lance Brown dared to reach for the stars. From a small seed of a basic job as a filing clerk and a delivery driver in his twenties, he discovered an aptitude for tax and a road to a brighter world.

He worked hard to complete a bachelors degree in Financial Management part-time through UNISA and is now a tax consultant for one of the world’s leading financial services firms.

Below is a talk he gave at a TEDx conference entitled “The Small Leap From Suspect to Success” and is an author of a book entitled, The Driver of Change.

Nothing beats perseverance, patience and most importantly, determination.

Instead of waiting for opportunities to happen, you have to step out and create your own. No matter what your background and education, it can take you from where you are to where you need to be.
