At least 60 police officers have been killed in the past 12 months alone and the South African Police Union (Sapu) says that a collaborative plan and awareness campaign must be put in place to deal with this specific kind of criminality.
This comes after Captain Kenneth Poortman was hijacked, stabbed to death and left alongside the Mabopane Highway in Pretoria on Sunday night.
On the same day, in KwaZulu-Natal, Constable Sibongiseni Mnguni was shot and killed in Isipingo.
