Wedding speech 101: how not to spoil it for the happy couple

"Remember, it's about the couple getting married. It's not about you." Author and public speaker Aletta Rochat gives key wedding speech advice.

Author and public speaker Aletta Rochat has attended her fair share of wedding ceremonies, many of which involved a cringe-worthy speech.

Rochat wrote "The Wedding Speaker’s Guide", a guide to make sure that wedding speakers are remembered – for all the right reasons.

She said that wedding speeches often go wrong because everyone assumes the wedding speaker will know what to do, without offering them a brief and with limited contextual preparation.
