'Selling of fireworks at street corners is illegal' - city officials

Following numerous complaints of people selling fireworks illegally at intersections, CapeTalk/702's Sam Cowen spoke to Virgil James, Spokesperson at City of Joburg on what should be done.

According to James, any fireworks that are sold in the streets are illegal and if spotted, people should report such on 011 375 5911.

You are allowed to set them off only at certain times. on New years Eve 23:00 - 01:00 and on New years day 19:00 - 22:00.
