What legal avenues can South Africans pursue in reporting racist incidents following public outcry regarding comments made by Penny Sparrow and Chris Hart?

702 and Cape Talk's Stephen Grootes speaks to Human Rights Commission spokesperson, Dieketseng Diale, about the organisation's stance on the issue.

We are still encouraging people to lodge complaints... There's a senior legal officer who handles the case within five days of receiving the complaint.

Dieketseng Diale, Human Rights Commission spokesperson

Researcher at the Freedom of Expression Institute, Nomagugu Nyathi, also weighed in on the matter which has enraged the nation.

Listen to the conversation below:

Freedom of expression is guaranteed to everyone in South Africa. That right is limited, it is not absolute.

Nomagugu Nyathi, Freedom of Expression Institute researcher
