What to expect from The Oscars 2016 nominees announcement

The much-awaited announcement of The Oscars 2016 nominees has revealed the high competition in the film and acting industry.

702's Azania Mosaka spoke to movie critic, Hugh Fraser, regarding the what viewers can expect following the recent announcement.

Listen to the interview below:

A lot of the movies nominated are from later in the year, one wonders about the politics that goes on behind the scenes.

Hugh Fraser, movie critic

We have to assume that these are not neccesarily the best movies in the world, it's what Hollywood is telling us is available.

Hugh Fraser, movie critic

I would have been very surprised if Thina Sobabili got a nomination because it deals with similiar issues to Tsotsi
