Transactional sex: Challenging society's ideas on power and morality

Transactional sex is challenging society's perception on power and morality, as the trend continues to gain popularity among women.

702's Azania Mosaka on Tuesday spoke to Wits University lecturer Dr Danai Mupotsa about the issue.

Listen to the interview below:

There's a dichotomy we're assuming to be natural which is that between presumably the virgin and presumably the whore and all of us operating somewhere in between.

Dr Dannai Mupotsa, Wits University lecturer

There's nothing unusual about this, transactional sex happening all over the world.

Dr Danai Mupotsa, Wits University lecturer

So much of what we consider as romance is essentially transactional.

Dr Danai Mupotsa, Wits University lecturer

I think what makes us uncomfortable about transactional sex is that it says a lot about how all of us have sex.

Dr Danai Mupotsa, Wits university lecturer
