Three substations exploded in Benoni on Friday morning, causing widespread electricity blackouts in the area.
EWN's Ziyanda Ngcobo said that the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services will examine the cables to determine the cause of the explosions.
The first substation caught fire in Rynfield and it is believed that two mini substations in Crystal Park subsequently blew up.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
