A group of disgruntled residents in Atteridgeville, Pretoria gathered outside Tshwane Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa's parents' home on Sunday.
The group accused Ramokgopa of rigging the selection of candidates ahead of the local government elections and threatened to burn down his parents' home.
The ANC's Teboho Joala on Monday said that the party was highly disturbed by the incident at the weekend and would follow up the matter through internal party structures.
