Tapping into the fertile township economy

The Gauteng Department of Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development has launched a campaign called 'Bontle ke Botho' to address waste management, greening challenges in Gauteng and the township economy.

MEC Lebogang Maile on Thursday spoke to John Robbie about the township stock exchange as a means of providing other means of financing to entrepreneurs in communities.

One of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs in the country is funding, we need to look at possible funding mechanisms. Stokvels and burials societies are worth R40 billion per annum and all that money sits with the bank.
