Alcohol-free ‘Breva’ taps into the huge market of non-drinking South Africans

Meet Gladys Mawoneke, MD of beverage maker Bumi Hills Group, bottler and manufacturer of the non-alcohol malt drink Breva.

The Money Show's Bruce Whitfield interviewed Gladys Mawoneke, founder and MD of beverage maker and wholesaler Bumi Hills Group, for his weekly "ShapeShifter" feature.

Whitfield also took a call from Silvana Dantu, co-owner of African Equations (maker of Zari, a high-end locally produced sparkling grape juice, especially popular with Muslim connoisseurs).

Gladys Mawoneke’s Bumi Hills Group makes and bottles the alcohol-free malt drink Breva.

About 65% of South African adults don’t drink any alcohol.

We celebrate people who decide to have fun and be themselves without drinking in culture where drinking is celebrated and there is pressure on people to drink.
