Lily Mine accident should be declared a national disaster, says AMCU president

Pretty Nkambule, Solomon Nyerende and Yvonne Mnisi were trapped when the ground on the surface collapsed last week, burying the container in thousands of tonnes of debris and rock.

Firstly, one should ask: why was any structures put on top of the area which was mined before as an open cast? If it's so, did the mine follow the right procedure of regulating the big open pit like that one?
