Mental health patients 'won't be stranded' - Qedani Mahlangu

Last year a mother, Joyce, alerted John Robbie to the Gauteng Department of Health’s plans to close down all mental institutions in the province.

The department has since extended its contract with Life Esidimeni until June this year just days after concerned families and relatives marched to its offices on Tuesday.

John on Friday spoke to Gauteng MEC for Health, Qedani Mahlangu, about the current situation of the province's mental institutions.
