ANC: 'We make a clear distinction between party and state'

The ANC is the governing party, and if it marches to the seat of government, the Union Buildings, it raises questions about who they are marching against.

Stephen Grootes on Friday asked ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa if the party's march against racism was part of its local government election campaign.

Listen to the conversation below:

It was important as part of facilitating the process of conversation among South Africans and different national groups to build unity, non-racialism and democracy.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson

If we were marching against the ANC, we would be in Luthuli House. We make a clear distinction between the party and the state.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson

Unfortunately, I'm sure those who made the recent remarks that are very insensitive and insulting to the majority of our people, it had nothing to do with elections. It's like saying DA is a racist party, you can't make that as an electioneering statement, you're just stating the fact, whether there are elections or not.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson
