Mantashe accuses Mandela Washington Fellowship of anti-government plot

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe on Friday accused Mandela Washington Fellowship participants of working with the United States government to destabilise South Africa.

702's Xolani Gwala on Friday spoke to Mantashe about his comments which have caused a stir in political circles.

Listen to the interview below:

The Obama programme took 46 kids here with no discussion with South Africa. Took them here quietly and kept them in the US for six weeks.

Gwede Mantashe, ANC general secretary

...They come back very articulate but the content of their message is regime change.

Gwede Mantashe, ANC general secretary

I'm not recognising that programme because it is not designed jointly. It is their programme with their objectives, not our objective.

Gwede Mantashe, ANC general secretary

All I'm saying is we must be aware and study the content of the message. We are going to be a better country that will be able to deal with the colour revolution.
