How can parents encourage emotional intelligence in their children?

According to parenting expert Nikki Bush, emotional intelligence in children is something that parents need to be growing and developing all the time. It’s not fixed.

Children who are emotionally intelligent get to know and understand themselves; they know how to label their own emotions; they learn how to acknowledge their feelings and the feelings of others and they have an understanding and empathy for others.

Talking to CapeTalk/702’s Redi Tlhabi on Monday, Nikki Bush focused on the importance of encouraging emotional intelligence in children.
