Data Scientist predicts that 'The Revenant' will win big at Oscars 2016

During last year’s Rugby World Cup, the data scientists at Principa accurately predicted the results. This time around, Data Scientist, John van Biljon has taken on the challenge of predicting the Oscars 2016 winners, using Machine Learning?

Johan van Biljon spoke to John Robbie to share their predictions for the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday, 28 February 2016.

Here are Johan's predictions:

Best Picture:
The Revenant (by a small margin against Spotlight)

Best Actor:
_Leonardo DiCaprio (_for The Revenant)

Best Actress: Brie Larson (for The Room)

Best Director: Alejandro G. Iñárritu for **The Revenant** (by a small margin against George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road)
