The Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and other groups on Friday held an urgent briefing to tackle the university crisis and end the violence.

Yvonne Mokgoro of the Social Cohesion Reference Group declared that the groups involved would offer universities mediation and conflict resolution services from as soon as Monday.
They are launching #AccessThuto, which means "access education" - which will seek to listen to students, academic staff and management at universities to help neutralise the conflict currently experienced at universities.
Mokgoro said there was an uncanny resemblance to apartheid days and this cannot continue.— Gia Niccolaides, EWN reporter
They are calling on all like-minded citizens, business and organisations to get behind this move to help resolve the crisis.
It's not about government declaring this a crisis, it is about South Africans declaring this a crisis, said Mokgoro.
