National Prosecution Authority (NPA) boss Shaun Abrahams has ordered that its top litigation unit, the Priority Crimes Litigation Unit (PCLU) report high profile and controversial crimes directly to his office.
It is alleged that Abrahams wants to personally oversee serious and contentious cases.
EWN's Barry Bateman said Abrahams has referred politically-charged cases, such as Glynnis Breytenbach's and Johan Booysen's, to be dealt with by the PCLU.
Meanwhile, the NPA’s Luvuyo Mfaku says it is the National Director’s prerogative to make institutional changes as he deems fit.
Listen to the full conversation from The Midday Report with Stephen Grootes:
He's change the reporting line, so the very same unit where he's referred cases, now comes directly to his office.
