An American breeder says he received a shipment of sick and ill-treated dogs from South Africa.
The man who apparently spent over R200 000 on a Boerboel deal to import the dogs from South Africa to the USA, has launched a complaint with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
He claims the six dogs he bought arrived from South Africa without the required paperwork and in an appalling state. He says they were sick and severely traumatised.
John Robbie spoke to EWN reporter Govan Whittles who reported that legitimate Boerboel trading was popular in South Africa and internationally. South Africa is considered one of the best breeders in the world.
The illegal shipment of Boerboels is being investigated. The SA Boerboel Breeders Society has come out in support of the American breeder.
