Altech Autopage customers irate over contract confusion

In September 2015, Altron announced the closure of phone service provider, Altech Autopage's 105 stores. Local mobile networks, Cell C, MTN and Vodacom paid R1.5 Billion to take over Autopage's subscriber base starting this month.

Listeners called into Xolani Gwala's show this afternoon complaining about not being able to get a hold of Autopage for service and contract disputes.

Listen to the listener complaints below:

Xolani Gwala spoke to Altech Autopage MD, Peter Wattrus, who clarified what the situation is with the sale of Autopage.

Wattrus confirmed that the Autopage subscriber base has been taken over by MTN, Vodacom and Glocell. Wattrus said that the smaller part of their subscriber base, Cell C, has now been transferred to a service provider, Glocell as from 14 March 2016.

He said that MTN and Vodacom customers have not been transferred as yet and are still under Autopage's base.

He added that MTN and Vodacom customers with issues can still call Autopage on 0861 23 24 24. Cell C customers who have been migrated over the weekend can call Cell C support on 084 1234 for assistance.
