Apply for the 2017 YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship for that extra edge

The United States Embassy has opened applications for the 2017 YALI (Young African Leaders Initiative) Mandela Washington Fellowship for interested candidates.

The six-week academic and leadership development programme was introduced by President Barack Obama in 2014. Fellows from 49 African countries are placed in a US university to develop their skills, abilities and networks to return home and contribute to their communities positively.

We're looking for young leaders between 25 and 35 who have a proven record of leadership and a commitment to return to Africa and help their communities.

The fellowship consists of three tracks, which are as follows:

  • business and entrepreneurship
  • civic leadership
  • public management
