Xolani Gwala and his Afternoon Drive team will be running the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon 21km this year, as part of the “More than Yourself” campaign, to raise funds for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Xolani has followed the ongoing student protests closely, and decided to play his part in helping the financial needy students.
He spoke to Sizwe Nxasana from NSFAS and Joel Baepi from Old Mutual before announcing his support...
The National Development Plan calls for active citizenship in dealing with issues that challenge us as a country.— Sizwe Nxasana, NSFAS chairperson
It goes a long way in assiting students who even today, in the middle of March, have maybe barely scraped money to register at universities and don't have the balance of the fees to move on.— Sizwe Nxasana, NSFAS chairperson
Given the fact that we managed R10 billion in the previous financial year, this year we have to manage R15 billion.— Sizwe Nxasana, NSFAS chairperson
We ask that you participate for more than just yourself by promoting a cause and in this instance, raising funds for education.— Joel Baepi, Old Mutual
Just as a challenge to other corporates, we're pledging R100 000 from Old Mutual to this NSFAS cause and call on other corporates to follow suit.— Joel Baepi, Old Mutual
