Zwelinzima Vavi said on Thursday that various ANC leaders have known about Gupta offers of political advancement to ANC politicians.

Vavi's comment comes amid revelations from Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas, that he was offered the position of finance minister before Nhlanhla Nene's removal.

702/Cape Talk's Redi Tlhabi spoke to Vavi, regarding his thoughts on the matter.

Listen to the conversation below:

It's hard not to be emotional or angry about it isn't it? And only the beneficiaries of this chaos keep calling radio stations calling for calm.

Any leader of the ANC or the alliance who will make a claim that they didn't know about how comrades were being approached by this family is lying...Everybody knows that this has been happening for a good few years.

Zwelinzima Vavi, former GS of COSATU

I knew about this thing even before Mbalula came out in public in 2012 that people are being approached by the Guptas and ministers are being woken up early in the morning to be told that they'll receive this call at 10 o'clock.

They purged people people who began to speak out, I was one of those people and others in NUMSA...And look now, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Zwelinzima Vavi, former GS of COSATU

We are inspired by Mcebisi Jonas, Vytjie Mentor and others but we are almost close to being a predatory state.

Zwelinzima Vavi, former GS of COSATU

Let me tell you this Redi, I am very happy that I eventually got dismissed and purged because we know that these are the lessons that our children must learn in order to save this country from falling apart.
