The African National Congress (ANC) announced that it will be investigating the Gupta family and allegations of state capture.
The ANC's Gwede Mantashe urged anyone who has been approached by the Guptas to come forward with information and has promised them political protection.
However, political analyst Ralph Mathekga says that the party's internal processes have collapsed and the Gupta probe cannot be seen as credible.
The question is whether the internal process of the ANC still have credibility that such an investigation can be carried out in a fair and open manner. I'm afraid the answer is no.— Ralph Mathekga, independent political analyst
