Vavi speaks more on Gupta and Zuma meeting in Equatorial Guinea

Trade unionist Zwelinzima Vavi says that he did not immediately voice his concerns about his encounter with a Gupta family member and President Jacob Zuma's son in Equatorial Guinea in 2008, because there were no stories about the Gupta family's political influence at the time.

Vavi recently shared how uncomfortable he felt when he witnessed Rajesh Gupta and Duduzane Zuma walking into a meeting between President Jacob Zuma and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema during that country's Independence Day celebrations in October 2008. At the time, Vavi, then Secretary-General of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and South African Communist Party (SACP) Secretary-General Blade Nzimande, were reportedly set to meet with President Zuma.

Vavi spoke to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Sizwe Dhlomo to contextualise the sequence of events of his encounter in Equatorial Guinea in 2008, and what he did next.
