City of Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau says the illegal Pikitup strike can no longer be tolerated.
The month-long strike forced the City to hire private contractors to remove refuse at an alleged cost of R1 million a day.
EWN's Masego Rahlaga says approximately 4 000 workers will face a disciplinary hearing over the next three days.
According to Rahlaga, Tau said the City has a mandate to keep the streets clean and protect the health of residents against disease.
