Opposition party leaders have met ahead of today’s sitting of the National Assembly, when MPs will debate the Democratic Alliance's (DA) motion calling for the removal of President Jacob Zuma.
The DA's James Selfe says that the impeachment debate is not in vain, despite the bleak odds that Zuma will be voted out of office.
Given the damning nature of the ConCourt judgement, it's the very least that conscientious and responsible MPs can do. You can't have the highest court in the land say that the President failed in his Constitutional obligations and then just sit around.— James Selfe, DA Federal Executive Chairperson
Selfe says action must be taken by MPs, who he believes are duty bound to table a motion of no confidence.
