IEC addresses concerns ahead of Voter Registration weekend
John Robbie has received a number of calls from listeners saying they have received SMSes from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) asking them for their address details.
This weekend (9 - 10 April) is the final Voter Registration weekend.
IEC's Chief Communication Officer, Kate Bapela spoke to John Robbie to clarify some of the concerns from the public.
What we want to make sure is to avoid being taken to court for not having certain addresses on the voters roll. We're pulling all stops to make sure we have all addresses this weekend.Kate Bapela, Chief Communication Officer at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
We've added more staff across the voting stations and we have provided a lot of backup across all the systems. We have additional permanent staff who are on call.Kate Bapela, Chief Communication Officer at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
