Indonesian search and rescue teams hunting for the wreckage of an Air Asia passenger jet have located the tail of the aircraft underwater. The tail is the section where the crucial black box voice and flight data recorders are located. The airbus A320 plunged into the Java Sea on the 28th December en route from the city of Surabaya to Singapore with 162 people on board.
No survivors have been found but in the last hour search teams have recovered another body.
Political parties say the drop in the matric pass rate can't be blamed on the new curriculum alone and say it should be further investigated. The matric class of 2014 was the first to write final exams under the new curriculum. While this has been given as one reason the pass rate dropping by 2.4 percent, parties say the quality of teaching should be firmly in the spotlight...
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says his department aims to purchase different types of life-saving medication at a cheaper rate in future after recently securing more affordable antiretroviral drugs. The ministry has signed an HIV/ AIDS drug tender worth R14 Billion with four pharmaceutical firms which will run over the next three years.
But Motsoaledi is adamant this is just the first step in reducing prices as the next involves proposed changes to drug patent laws. In September 2013 the Department of Trade and Industry published a draft framework for a new policy on intellectual property which included patents on life-saving drugs.
