The Gauteng Education Department's new online school registration system is finally live and has already processed over 188 000 applications.
The department came under fire again over more delays to the online submissions, due to a technical glitch on Tuesday.
Department spokesperson Oupa Bodibe says that the system is not yet completely fault-free.
Some of the errors include duplicated profiles, and he is assuring that every individual issue raised by parents is being attended to by technical staff.
We are picking up some few errors and are assisting parents who find them, but people can go on to the system.— Oupa Bodibe, Gauteng Education Department spokesperson
The department plans to deploy more than 8 000 officials to help ensure information is captured correctly at schools.
System upgrades will be run every morning between 02:00 and 04:00 to avoid affecting online access.
