DA's sights set on Joburg and Tshwane ahead of election manifesto launch

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will launch its election manifesto at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The opposition party is fighting for control of certain municipalities ahead of the local government elections this August.

DA spokesperson Mabine Seabe says that the party is targeting its campaign at the City of Johannesburg and the City of Tshwane.

It's going to be a celebration of democracy and of change for the people of South Africa.

According to Seabe, the DA will work towards increasing the majority in the City of Cape Town, and winning in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The DA also says that the death of former DA MP Dene Smuts is a loss to the party and the broader political landscape.
