Azania Mosaka and Makhosi Khoza join 702 & CapeTalk

702 and CapeTalk are starting the new year with the addition of two new voices to the weekend line up: Azania Mosaka on Weekend Breakfast and Makhosi Khoza who joins the Solid Gold team.

Azania will join Africa Melane for a double header on 702/CapeTalk’s Weekend Breakfast. The show, which broadcasts on both stations from 06h00 to 10h00 on Saturdays and Sundays will give listeners the latest on what is happening in the world and in their neighbourhoods. It will be a platform for thoughtful conversations and debate, as well as the go-to place to know about the latest fashion, food, trends and everything that is happening in 702land and Cape Town.

“We felt that the pairing of these two dynamic, experienced broadcasters will enable lively and pacey discussion that will keep listeners entertained and in the know. This show will provide quality weekend listening for people interested in the good life. It will offer both fun and insightful perspectives,” said 702 station manager Pheladi Gwangwa.

Azania who hails from Pimville in Soweto, has over a decade of broadcast experience in radio and TV. Her radio career started behind the scenes as a producer at Metro FM but her talent in front of the mic was quickly identified and she rose through the ranks from overnight shifts to hosting drivetime shows. Viewers might recognize Azania from a number of TV shows including her own lifestyle show, Cooking with Azania, on SABC3.

“I am ecstatic to be joining a professional broadcasting environment such as 702/CapeTalk. It is a great opportunity for me to refine my broadcasting abilities at a station that was instrumental in developing my love for talk radio as a listener and a broadcaster,” said Azania.

“Azania’s insights and experience in the entertainment industry place her very well to co-host this show and we look forward to the new dynamic that she and Africa will bring to the airwaves,” said CapeTalk station manager, Colleen Louw.

Solid Gold welcomes Makhosi who will be hosting the music show from 16h00 to 19h00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Makhosi has over 20 years experience as a music presenter in South Africa, starting at Capital Radio in the early 1990s and including shows on major regional and national stations. Makhosi has a warm and confident style of presentation that will bring the listeners even closer to their favourite tunes.

Solid Gold will have a refreshed line-up as of Saturday 17th January and listeners can expect the following hosts to present their favourite contemporary classics:

10h00 to 13h00: Kenny Maistry 13h00 to 16h00: Allan Barnard 16h00 to 19h00: Makhosi Khoza 19h00 to 21h00: The Bandstand with Eleanor Moore 21h00 to 00h00: Solid Gold Jukebox with Benjy Mudie

702 and CapeTalk said goodbye to Rafe Lavine in December. Rafe, who has been a long-serving member of the Solid Gold team, left 702 and CapeTalk to join his family in the UK.

“We thank Rafe for his contribution to the station and wish him all of the best,” said Gwangwa.
