Founder of 'Feed It Forward' Janesha Govender was inspired to develop her food donation app after realising how much food is wasted by corporate companies, restaurants and major retail chain stores.
They throw these in the bin once the store is closed. This food should be redirected to those in need— Janesha Govender, Feed It Forward founder
The platform, which will launch in June, makes it convenient for businesses to donate their excess perishable food items.
She explains that the application will be a free-to-use on demand service for the collection and delivery of meals.
According to Govender, the food will be distributed according to location and quantity of the food donation, as well as the needs of recipients.
She says beneficiaries will include charitable organisations, orphanages and other suitable initiatives.
