Business Day exposes Auction Alliance over secret payments and shady deals

Auction Alliance has lost a court bid to prevent Business Day from publishing a story on alleged ghost bidding involving Wendy Applebaum.

Stand-in for 702's John Robbie, Nikiwe Bikitsha, spoke to Business Day senior reporter, Fiona Forde, regarding the issue.

Listen to the interview below:

Since 2012, about the story of fake bids that we were taking place, eventually forced its founder to step down.

Fiona Forde, Business Day senior reporter

Not only were the gimmicks that we reported on four years ago true, but it is more widespread than what we imagined.

Fiona Forde, Business Day senior

Because these were irregular payments. Those who were recieving them are also implicated. We're talking about attorneys, liquidators, financial advisors, a string of bank officials from our high street banks.

Fiona Forde, Business Day senior reporter
