Dramatic opera film 'Roberto Devereux' opens at Cinema Nouveau

On screens at Cinema Nouveau from tomorrow is Donizetti’s opera Roberto Devereux.

Sondra Radvanovsky sings Queen Elizabeth I, forced to sign the death warrant of the man she loves – Roberto Devereux, sung by Matthew Polenzani.

With Roberto Devereux, the American soprano completes her challenge of singing Donizetti’s three Tudor queens in one season for the Metropolitan Opera, following her performances in Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda.

The Tudor trilogy is produced by Sir David McVicar, and Roberto Devereux is conducted by Maurizio Benini.
