Listen to the full conversation below:

Today’s children are very materialistic. They have been brought up in an era where they are always on, as in they are in a media saturated world.

Nikki Bush - Parenting expert

They have been bombarded by messages that tell them that if they consume they can be happy.

Nikki Bush - Parenting expert

Bush says that it is very important that children are aware of the value of money, in order to create financial freedom for themselves.

She suggests that children be not excluded when parents are planning budgets and dealing with essential money matters.

As parents today we have to bring our children up countering a lot of that messaging, because it’s not always about what you own that makes you happy.

Nikki Bush - Parenting expert

We need to teach our children about the value of money and the fact that money does buy you things. But it’s what you do with money and what you do with your own energy, decisions and choices that makes you happy. It is not all about money.
