ANC meet McBride and axed Sars, Hawks bosses set to lift lid on state corruption

A group of former and suspended government officials have briefed top ANC leaders about their fight to expose corruption in state institutions.

Led by suspended Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) head Robert McBride, the contingent wants to reveal the true reasons for their persecution.

EWN's Barry Bateman, who broke the story, reveals that more than a dozen other officials join McBride in the 'fight back' strategy.

The officials include former deputy Sars commissioner Ivan Pillay, former Hawks boss Anwa Dramat as well as ex-provincial Hawks heads Johan Booysen and Shadrack Sibiya.

According to Bateman, ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe met with the former officials who believe that there is a common thread in their cases and investigations during their tenures.

They say they're going to expose the real reasons for why they've been persecuted and prosecuted... It was a courtesy visit to ANC leadership, essentially [because] the people they are going to be exposing are ANC members. They are going to be exposed and potentially burnt.
