Body shaming: overstepping personal boundaries and imposing standards of beauty

Body shaming manifests itself in various ways, with family and friends perpetuating it according to society's standards of beauty.

The issue became a talking point after True Love magazine published unedited pictures of cover star, Lerato Kganyago, after an outcry over their excessive photoshopping done on the images.

702's Azania Mosaka invited callers to share their experiences and thoughts regarding the issue.

Listen to the interview below:

I've been modelling for about 13 years and it never stops. I'm not a skinny girl and I'm not a big girl either but there'll be people coming up to me asking if my bum has grown bigger.

Kay, caller

My wife is slender. You'll find people who come up to her saying she needs to put meat on her bones.

Trevor, caller

Being the skinny guy, stepping onto the aircraft and you have an incredibly large person squashing you in your side of the seat. Is that right, is that fair?

Bryan, caller
