An MBA will no longer guarantee you a corner office - recruitment report

It seems obtaining an Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is no longer the way to the top, according to a study by top executive recruitment firm Jack Hammer.

Jack Hammer CEO Debbie Goodman-Bhyat explains that an MBA has become more common over the years.

It still remains a great quality degree to have, but these days they are just in absolute abundance. It's almost a degree that is a ticket to the game, never mind to be playing as a front-runner.

Goodman-Bhyat says that an MBA is effectively a basic requirement, as opposed to being a unique differentiator.

She says that professionals should explore beyond the MBA, after the Jack Hammer report found that the MBA is no longer the preferred or obvious Master's degree to obtain.

45% of the CEO's at the top 40 listed companies have a Master's degree. But less than half of them are MBAs.
