Pippa Green interviews former TRC Commissioner Yasmin Sooka as part of the 13 part series History For The Future
This year, South Africa marks 20 years since the start of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings. John Maytham spoke to Yasmin Sooka, former Commissioner at the TRC.
Sooka has been following closely the case of Hissène Habré, 'the dictator of Chad'. Habré was sentenced to life in prison earlier this week by the Extraordinary African Chambers (CAE) for crimes against humanity, war crimes and torture.
Sooka says the sentencing of Habré is a triumph for justice and accountability for the victims of human rights violation and crimes against humanity on our continent.

Yasmin Sooka is among the 13 Truth and Reconciliation Commission commissioners who were interviewed by veteran Journalist Pippa Green reflecting on the experience they had at the TRC hearings.
