Coach Shakes' disappointment, Dramat-Hawks latest, Davos coming up

Coach Shakes' disappointment with Bafana:

EWN Sports Correspondent Morena Mothupi on this story: Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba says his side shouldn't have conceded the types of goals they did especially in a tournament as big as the African Cup of Nations (Afcon): “The first was an own goal! The goalkeeper and his defence lacked communication. In the second goal, we allowed them to stretch us and they came down the middle and scored.”

Bafana lost 3-1 to Africa's top ranked side Algeria in their opening match of the competition despite dominating for the better part of the match. Mashaba says the kind of goals conceded is not acceptable at this level of football. Mashaba says losing Rivaldo Coetzee in the first half was a massive blow to the team. “Without him in central midfield, Algeria were playing long balls behind us and that killed us. Losing him cost us a lot.” Skipper Dean Furman credited Algeria's change of tactics to their win.

Dramat set to return to Hawks?:

EWN Correspondent Govan Whittles on this story: the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) says it’s hopeful Anwa Dramat will return to his position as head of the Hawks by the end of this week, when the High Court rules on its legal challenge. The foundation has taken Police Minister Nathi Nhleko to court, arguing that his decision to suspend Dramat was illegal and unconstitutional. But Nhleko’s lawyers have hit back saying last year's constitutional order has been misinterpreted. HSF Director Francis Antonie says if the court rules in their favour, the Hawks acting head should be immediately removed. Dramat was suspended for his alleged role in the illegal renditions of four Zimbabwean nationals in 2010.

Lead up to World Economic Forum meet clogs Davos skies:

CNN Money reports that the world's 1%'s private jets are clogging up Swiss airports in the scramble towards Davos, Switzerland, ahead of the annual World Economic Forum meet. Billionaires and world leaders from across the globe insist on travelling in style, with around 1,700 private flights expected over the course of the week - twice as many as normal - according to WINGX Advance, a tracking firm. Traffic is expected to rise 5% compared to last year's event. Private jet companies have warned clients to plan ahead, as securing spots for landing, take-off and parking can become a logistical nightmare.
